The Just Fore Kids Foundation was formed to support various children's charities and organizations with funds raised through an annual golf outing. This year's event raised $15,000 to help kids and their families.

 

One of the earliest settlers of Maple Grove was the Koehler family. Gottlieb and Gottlieben Koehler came to the area from Germany by way of Missouri.

Nearly forty years ago, when a neighbor teased Gene Heezen about his upcoming trip to the Ozarks, (“Are going down there to spit and whittle?”) Heezen thought, well, why not? He picked up a knife and discovered a new creative outlet.
     

 

When Maple Grove resident Larry Hotchkiss was in his early twenties he got his first Rottweiler, a dog he says was a wonderful companion for eleven years. But his wife Amy needed convincing when it came time for the Hotchkisses to get a dog together. He wanted another Rottweiler.

 

Last fall, Maple Grove became home to the first free-standing Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Minnesota and home to franchise operator, Nancy Christman.

 

Dave and Linda Looney, owners of The Woods Gifts in Maple Grove, believe a business is as much a citizen as anyone else in town. That belief drives their ongoing community involvement and commitment to making fun events at The Woods available to the public.

When choosing where to plant roots, Dr. Brad Griffore decided his hometown was the perfect place to raise a family and begin his business.

 

They wear crowns and beautiful dresses, but they aren’t pageant girls— they are your Maple Grove Ambassadors.

 

Birthdays ordinarily include friends, family, presents, lots of cake and a few cheers to another year. Nate Bruss’ 16th birthday was anything but ordinary. On August 16th, Nate rang in his big day by making it even bigger: he set the world record for solo-piloting 10 aircraft in one day.

 

The Maple Grove and Osseo area have welcomed three new businesses to the community. The ‘Sota Shop opened this summer on 210 County Road 81 near NAPA Auto Parts in Osseo. The store sells both Osseo and Maple Grove Senior High apparel including sweatshirts, letterman jackets and t-shirts.
